Finishing off a busy summer, Dr. Sakalidis recently spoke to Christmas tree growers at the Mid-west and Michigan Christmas Tree growers meeting on pathogen detection, spruce decline and biocontrol issues. Dr. Sakalidis will be speaking at the Seedling Growers meeting on September the 11th and will provide updates on the research that is on-going in the Forest Pathology lab at MSU.
On March 8th come and have a listen to a day of talks on “Addressing Threats to Michigan’s Forest Health”, some of the talks will include Dr. Sakalidis and member’s of her lab speaking on oak wilt, spruce decline, thousand cankers disease of walnut and white pine health issues.
Dr. Sakalidis has had a busy couple of months, recent talks include “The Fight Against Boxwood Blight” at the MNLA Great Lakes Trade Expo, “Oak Wilt, it‚Äôs here, it‚Äôs spreading- so what are we doing about it” at the DNR Professional Development Training meeting and this week “Genetics of Caliciopsis species affecting Pinus spp.; what we know and what we need to find out” at the White Pine Health Workshop in Athens, Georgia. Next week Dr. Sakalidis will be talking at the Winter Nursery Meeting on “MSU Research Update on Spruce Decline‚Äù & ‚ÄúWhat are your concerns? Conifer Growers Disease Survey”, in West Olive on February 16th.
Dr. Sakalidis will be presenting at the American Phytopathological Society Meeting on August 7th at 2:00pm in the “A Bridge over troubled ecosystems” session.
Dr. Sakalidis will be speaking at the IUFRO 7.02.02 “Foliage, shoot and stem diseases of forest trees” working party meeting on May 9th, at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada
Dr. Sakalidis will be speaking at Arborcon in Lansing on February 15th, at the Winter Michigan Nursery Meeting in Grand Rapids on February 17th and at the Christmas Tree Association Meeting in Traverse City on March 3rd.
