Dr. Sakalidis, in collaboration with MSU colleagues Deborah G. McCullough, Bert Cregg and Jan Byrne has been awarded a Michigan Invasive Species Grant funded for 3 years through the Michigan departments of Environmental Quality, Natural Resources and Agriculture and Rural Development to conduct research on the Epidemiology, biology and population genetics of Oak Wilt. We are looking for a PhD student to conduct a population genomic study of Ceratocystis fagacearum and develop and optimize molecular detection assays. Details coming soon.
Dr. Sakalidis will be speaking at Arborcon in Lansing on February 15th, at the Winter Michigan Nursery Meeting in Grand Rapids on February 17th and at the Christmas Tree Association Meeting in Traverse City on March 3rd.
